The Artist - Dustin Stratton

I've got to go with a rating of 3 out of 5 stars. The story was great, but the gimmick took me a really long time to get into. In fact I really wasn't enjoying myself until around the end of the second act. The cinematography was good, and they really did a great job capturing the look and feel of a roaring twenties film, but it wasn't a roaring twenties film, it was a 2011 film. The ending was pretty good, I liked the heavy accent of our protagonist being the reason why he couldn't do "talkies" all along, but it was a really long setup for a gag that lasted a few seconds.

My rating of the film went up though the more I tried to explain it to people. Not really sure what that effect is. The idea was there, the execution was there, but it just wasn't all there for me. It is something that everyone should see, though I don't know if I'd want to be there with them and do it again.
