Synopsis: Paris two friends Jules and Jim are in love with the same woman. WWI begins and Jules marries the girl, Catherine. After the war they meet one another and Catherine falls in love with Jim.

Characterization/ Dialogue: three characters: Jules and Jim and their love Catherine, all characters are playful and comfortable with each other. They each have their sad moments when torn between choices and the desire to be with the one they love.
Camera/lighting/editing technique: using a lot of natural lighting, the scenes are long and move slowly when outdoors.  Shaky camera for movements, Close ups are used for any emotional scene or romance.

Yes, although Truffaut displays more of a freely moving environment showing off the lands of Paris and Germany. His camera style is identifiable.

The movie’s focus is romantic, although the views at the time would think of the two men sharing a woman would be religiously wrong. The movie in itself struggles through this and accepts itself as the characters discover more about themselves.

Society is what you make of it, as long as you find happiness even through difficult means. Life is short, live the way you want, with who you want.
